Hello everyone we just finished taking pictures today for the new Guardianship Grant that is being run by local attorney's in the area that are going to get involved with a special criteria for doing Guardianship's for consumers. The grant is based on a slider fee. The program is up and running but the brochures and all the final details are not completed yet.

When the program is finalized you will be able to contact me and leave a message with phone number and there will be a form to fill out hopefully on a link to the website for this great program.

I can tell you that i paid the going price to get my Guardianship at the time several yrs ago. Now because it is so expensive and parents or consumers themselves do not have that type of money these lawyers altough my lawyers have volunteered to help get them done at a slider fee. Depending on how involved it is and how much work has to be done. On a simple one you will not pay as much. We are in the process of finding the ones who are getting to reach their 18 birthday within the next yr. These are the ones that will slip through the cracks this year. We need to identify them as soon as possible so I can start referring them to the main attorney who will try to locate someone close by your home so it is still in your area for travel. The Hillsborough County Court Judge has joined in on this and really thinks this is going to work. They are also going to be getting involved with professional Guardians to take on some of the cases if a parent or family member is not available to take over as the Guardian or maybe not be legal cleared for the position. You can not have any felony record even from your past is one of the requirements. There are several requirements which are to many to list that is why these lawyers are volunteering most of the service with the slider fees. It will be slider fee but set with standards too. There will be a minimal and maximum fee.

So the only thing standing in the way of progress is the consumers can only be from the Hillsborough County Area at this time. They are going to get this up and running and then branch out through out the state as we get more Judges involved and Lawyers too. So keep checking back often for more on this great program here to stay.

We are also looking for consumers who had already slipped though the crack and was never given the opportunity to have a guardianship because of funds. As far as we were told if is any age over 17 will qualify but we are looking for the 17 yr old presently. So looking for emails in my aol email box soon.

Another thing I am starting a peer support group and looking for any input for this. We have a lawyers conference room for use at night. It is located in Brandon off Parson Ave. They have graciously offered this room to us. They need one staff member there due to insurance reasons but Bonnie has volunteered to be there as long as we give her notice in advance. So please lets get this going soon too. The area's located around this area are Plant City, Seffner, Riverview, Valrico, Mango, Bloomingdale but anyone will be welcome. We can fit about 50 people in the room but if we get a good showing we will relocate to a bigger building in the future. Right now I need some topics so we can get speakers to answer those questions on the topic suggested.
