Looking for members to join us

We are currently looking for new board members to join us and help make a difference in consumers lives. We are the Suncoast Region 23 Steering Committee. We currently have been in existence for about 5 yrs and have been able to make suggestions to Tallahassee to change some of the rules that are outdated or not working properly. They were not in the best interest of the consumers. We meet once a month thru the yr. Everyother month we have a meeting in St Petersburg Agency for Persons with Disability conference room. The other month we come on this side of the bay and have our meetings in the Tampa Office on the 5th fl in the conference room. There is more than enough room for more people who would be interested in joining. You do not even have to join but come by and listen to what were doing and how we are making a difference. We currently have about 15 -20 steady members and other visitors stopping by and visiting and even have joined. You can be a WSC, Providers, family members, FCC members, APD staff are there too. All you have to do is come and listen or come and speak up for people(consumers) who cant speak for themselves.


We also have a need for Family Care Council Board Members and general membership too. The requirements are : Family members: Spouse, siblings.....Consumers...... and we have a APD staff Liaison to offer advise at the meeting. But the board members are appointed by Gubenitoral Assignments but you can come and still help out while awaiting your appt. We have several members already but need more for the actual board. The meeting are held once a month in the Tampa Office of Agency for Persons with Disability. The are from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and sometimes a little longer but no often. They are open meeting to the public to get involved but no voting rights. The board takes your suggestions to the State FCC and they forward to Tallahassee for decisions. So come on out and join one or both of the groups. We do get to make that change often and in the meantime it is a friendly and causal atmosphere too.
