April 14th Tampa Protest

Please join us. . .

Hello everyone again,

I want to first thank each and everyone of you for your support the individuals in our communities that need our invaluable services. I know that each of you are involved in your own way in supporting individuals with disabilities.

The Med Waiver and APD has been set up in a way that creates healthy competition between competing agencies both For Profit and Not for Profit. We have all seen in the last few years that the agency has been mis-management into a huge deficit that is devastating to the individuals in need of services. On Wednesday, some of you may have been involved in the Channel 10 News Rally against the budget cuts. Others may have traveled to Tallahassee with us to rally there. This is what we need, but the question still remains, What’s Next?

It is time that we organize as one huge unit, not individual Corporations. It is time that we come together and determine which direction we will collectively throw our energy into. Richard Lilliston, CEO of HARC has offered up his facility to discuss what our plan is going to be as a group. We will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011 at HARC 2714 West Kirby St, Tampa FL. Please join us there. Seating is limited to 150 so please RSVP to sallydill@wjsadventures.com and rlilliston@hillsarc.com.

In addition, the following actions need to be taken:

- There is an unconfirmed appearance

of Governor Rick Scott on Sunday,

April 10, 2011 at the Tampa Bay

Downs, 11225 Racetrack Rd., Tampa,

Florida 33626 from 11:30-12:30 p.m. I

am sure Scott would appreciate your

support.

- Call Jennifer Peter Ungru, Deputy

Chief of Staff for the Governor, if you

are going to have to eliminate any

services or jobs due to the recent

budget cuts. Her number is 850-488-

5603. I am fairly sure you will not get

through to her, but let your message

be heard!

- Call your State Senator and

Representative. The efforts of

e-mailing are great, but the number of

e-mails received are staggering. Call!!

Tell them who you are, why you are

calling, and what you want. Remember

you are a voter and have the right to be

heard. It is more effective when the

representative knows that you are from

their constituency. Remember to first

make a note about what you want to say

and the goal of your call. The elected

members will soon be home for the

Easter Holiday. This would be a great

time to personally introduce yourself and

the individuals you serve at their offices.

- Encourage everyone you know to

participate in the above actions.

Thank you again for the services you provide and please be the one that stands up with us to come to a solution.

Sincerely,

Sally Giacobbe, BSW, MBA
