TALLAHASSEE — The Agency for Person with Disabilities (APD)
will hold a public meeting on December 4 in Pinellas County to
discuss possible policy changes affecting alternative transportation
providers. The meeting will be held in the Four Springs Ballroom of
the Safety Harbor Resort, 105 North Bayshore Drive, beginning at 9
a. m. and ending at noon.
When transportation is unavailable or does not meet the
special needs of a person with a disability through the community’s
public transit system, people may utilize an alternative
transportation provider that is paid through the Medicaid waiver.
APD is looking to strengthen the oversight of these alternative
providers to ensure that all required safety measures are being
taken.
Public input is welcome during the meeting. The meeting agenda
is posted on the APD Web site—APDCares.org. Those interested in
participating via conference call may dial 1-888-808-6959, then
enter the conference code of 34767.
If you are unable to attend or participate in the meeting, you
may submit comments to: Kent Carroll, APD Community Relations, 4030
